چکیده

Selective solar absorbers (SSAs) with high performance are the key to concentrated power systems. Optical metamaterials emerging as a promising strategy enhance selective photon absorption, however, high-temperature stability (>500 °C) remains one of main challenges for practical applications. Here, multilayered metamaterial system (Al2O3/W/SiO2/W) based on metal-insulator-metal Fabry-Pérot resonance effect has been demonstrated absorptance over 92%, low thermal emittance loss below 6% (100 °C blackbody), and significant stability: it proved that optical 94% after 1-h annealing under ambient environment up 500 °C, 96-h cycle test at 400 °C. Outdoor tests demonstrate peak temperature rise (193.5 can be achieved unconcentrated irradiance surface abrasion resistance yields SSAs have robust attack engineering

Surface States, Surface Metal-Insulator, and Surface Insulator-Metal Transitions ∗

I present an informal discussion of various cases where two-dimensional surface metal-insulator structural and charge-density-wave instabilities driven by partly filled surface states have been advocated. These include reconstructions of clean semiconductor surfaces and of W(100) and Mo(100), as well as anomalies on the hydrogen-covered surfaces H/W(110) and H/Mo(110), and possibly alkali-cover...

Design and Simulation of a Metal-Insulator-Metal Filter Based on Plasmonic Split Ring

In this paper, a plasmonic filter made of a split ring, two U-shaped structures and two straight waveguides is designed and investigated. In the proposed structure, the split ring and U-shaped structures are situated between straight waveguides. Simulations are done based on FDTD method. Split ring, U-shaped structures and straight waveguides are made of air in the silver background. In the pro...

Characterizations of realized metal-insulator-silicon-insulator-metal waveguides and nanochannel fabrication via insulator removal.

We investigate experimentally metal-insulator-silicon-insulator-metal (MISIM) waveguides that are fabricated by using fully standard CMOS technology. They are hybrid plasmonic waveguides, and they have a feature that their insulator is replaceable with functional material. We explain a fabrication process for them and discuss fabrication results based on 8-inch silicon-on-insulator wafers. We m...

Achieving planar plasmonic subwavelength resolution using alternately arranged insulator-metal and insulator-insulator-metal composite structures

This work develops and analyzes a planar subwavelength device with the ability of one-dimensional resolution at visible frequencies that is based on alternately arranged insulator-metal (IM) and insulator-insulator-metal (IIM) composite structures. The mechanism for the proposed device to accomplish subwavelength resolution is elucidated by analyzing the dispersion relations of the IM-IIM compo...

Metal Insulator Transition

Metal Insulator transition(MIT) is characterized by the conductivity which will be zero in the insulator phase. In this term paper, we focus on Mott insulator, and a simple theoritical way to describe this MIT is the Hubbard Model .Finally, we will look at the experiments of Mott insulator transition .
